The old name of Mt. Sanbe, Mt. Sahime, is mentioned in the ancient record of Izumo Fudoki, and is regarded as one of the stakes of the Kunibiki (Land-Pulling) Myth. Sahimeyama Shrine, located in Tane, Sanbe-cho, Oda City, still retains the old name of the mountain to this day. This shrine, said to have been built in the year 891, is regarded as the shrine protecting Mt. Sanbe. The enshrined deities are Onamuchi-no-Mikoto, Sukunahikona-no-Mikoto, and Suseribime-no-Mikoto.
